We built this business entirely on direct to consumer and expanded into
wholesale and partnerships at a later stage. This is an important distinction as
having brought to market several prominent wholly owned online brands, we
know what it takes to compete in retail. Our partnerships further sharpened
our retail proficiency as we have a unique vantage point to learn from a large
range of brands and improve our offering as a result of seeing what works with
different kinds of brands.
Customer Reach
We have a diverse portfolio of retail assets, including our own wholly owned
brands, our network of partner sites, and our network of domain properties.
This array of retail properties enables us to reach a larger base of customers
than would be possible with a single brand, and stabilizes cost of customer
acquisition. While technology capability and aptitude for converting visitors
to customers is important, customer reach is always the prized jewel of an
online retailer.
E-Commerce Technology
There's no hiding that our roots are in technology. This core competency gives
us an advantage that is surprisingly uncommon in online retail. Rather than
rely on third party software products and vendors to run our business, we
have custom developed our entire infrastructure and client facing technology
from the ground up. This enables us to be particularly adaptable to new
business requirements and agile to bring them to market. It's also why we
have a polished API and seamless integration with our partners.
